Winning The Oscars Styling Competition

In honor of my training and achievements as a model with Classic With Style, I thought I'd share my amazing experience of winning The Oscars Styling Competition with all of you. I have been most fortunate to grow as a model in this group, and have great aspirations for the new year ahead.

Prior to the big event, I stopped at The Rose Theatre for some glamorous ambiance and inspiration. Here is a lovely picture of me on stage during rehearsal, which shows off the incredible back of Utopia's Ester special edition gown. Although the original shade of red and silver accents was quite lovely, I adjusted the dress to make it an even more vibrant reddish hue with specks of gold. In my opinion, this gave it a glowing shimmer truly worthy of Oscar Night.

Oh, did I ever want to peek inside the golden Academy Award presenter's envelope in my hand, which was specially crafted with fine details for the occasion! But I maintained my composure and rehearsed until I felt flawless before making my grand entrance.

When I arrived at the red carpet, everyone looked so stunning in their gowns and suits! The other competitors, announcer and judges were all wearing their best for the evening, and a large audience had filled the CWS Main Stage venue. With confidence and poise, I was the second model to walk that night. Here is what I prepared for the styling competition:

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the annual Academy Awards! My name is Laura Reverie and I have the special honor of presenting tonight's Best Production Design award. But first, let's pay a tribute to fashion at the most prestigious red carpet event of them all: The Oscars.

Fashion designers Elie Saab and Badgley Mischka both revealed a line of stunning red gowns in their Spring 2014 collections that are destined for the red carpet, just in in time for this year's Academy Awards. I have chosen to wear the vivid red Ester gown by Utopia for this most formal of award ceremonies. Its elaborate jewel and beadwork bodice extends to the floor in a long front skirt panel, which creates an eye-catching shape for the dress that is reminiscent of the slender Oscar statuette pose with a long sword.

The fashionable Heidi Klum was spotted most recently at the Emmy's in a similarly adorned red gown, although the one I am wearing tonight also incorporates the fuller ball gown skirt that has been trending on the red carpet. The long tiered skirt of this dress elegantly billows behind me as I walk, delicately ornamented with a sheer spray of gold glittery tulle. I'm wearing the elegant Calypso low side-knot hairstyle created by Bliss Couture to show off the plunging scallop-cut back of this dress, and two tall slits in the front fabric of the skirt reveal commanding glimpses of my slender legs. This bold yet refined dress is sure to stand out against the more pastel colors of spring 2014's fashion palette.

As is customary at The Oscars, I am wearing luxurious jewelry to complement my dress. The Noor Mystic Infinity set by Lazuri echoes the beaded line pattern of the gown in the way that the diamonds drip off of my ears and down my chest. I have applied a dark smoky mascara and vivid red lipstick to accentuate the glamorously dramatic Hollywood look.

And now for the moment we've all been waiting for... The award for Best Production Design goes to... Classic With Style, for their incredible talent, vision and direction of the best modeling school and corporation in Second Life! I would like to sincerely thank you for all of your kindness, attention, and wisdom that you have shared to help me become a better model, and for everything that you contribute to SL and our lives.
My Style:

Jewelry: Noor Mystic Infinity 2 by Lazuri

Shoes: Sense 2 Heels in gold by N-core

After skillfully walking the seven stop formation on stage with an elegantly choreographed set of poses, I presented my speech. It was received with much applause, and then I took my place to watch the other competitors with great appreciation for the wonderful talent among the CWS group. I held my breath while the judges tallied their scores, and it was with immense joy and honor that I accepted the Oscar statuette for winning the styling competition. What a great experience and memory to cherish!

In light of recent news among the group, I sincerely hope that the curtain does not close on CWS, and that we all may continue to enjoy quality talent-developing events like this one in the new year ahead.

Ms. October 2013 Calendar Model

How proud and honored I am to be the Ms. October 2013 calendar model representing Classic With Style! This is such a huge step forward in my modeling career, and I hope to carry this title with grace and dignity into the CWS Calendar Pageant at the start of next year.

October has always been a special month for me. It begins with my RL birthday, and ends with one of the best holidays of the year. It is a month that honors creativity, being National Arts & Humanities Month in the United States, and also a month that brings attention to many important causes including breast cancer awareness. But symbolically, what I love most about the month of October is that it is a time of transition.

After the autumnal equinox, it's the first full month of fall when the beauty of summer finally turns into the magnificent peak foliage of early October. It is a month of harvest, when all of the efforts of planting and growing provide a bounty of goods to be shared and enjoyed. And it is a month when we can all don costumes and transform into something new on a special night of the year.

Seasons change, lives change, and we all grow into our new stages of life. Mother Nature rewards our transitions and celebrates this time of year with the vibrant colors of fall: rich reds, oranges, and golden hues. I have chosen to represent this glorious month with a gown and swimsuit that are every bit as brilliant with their fall floral patterns.

The Zaks dress in orange by Bliss Couture is just perfect for October, as its unusually shaped full V-line skirt with delicately gathered panels resembles a freshly turned falling leaf. I have selected the Trifles jewelry set in black diamond by Chop Zuey to emphasize the white-outlined oval shapes and black designs on the gown. To complement the dress's printed fall floral motif, I'm wearing flowers from the Marzia PurpleMoon orange gown in my hair, which are a perfect match. This dress is elegant yet strikingly unusual, ideal for the month of Halloween and fall foliage.

As it is no longer summer, I decided to wear a lovely one-piece swimsuit by Shiki called Holiday in Gerbera. I have always adored how Shinichi Mathy translates artwork into fashion designs, and this softer artistic print of October's blooming flower still conveys the rich tones of the month. I have paired this with the Ibiza wedge heels in mango by N-core and a wide-brimmed sun hat designed especially for this outfit. Its cream-colored floppy brim is adorned with matching orange sunflowers and contrasting white and yellow daisies, continuing the fall floral motif.

This month I transition into a new phase of my modeling career, earning my first pageant title of Ms. October 2013. I am incredibly honored to represent Classic With Style and am truly grateful for all of the training and support I have received from the CWS community, staff and owners. Your kindness and attention has helped me to turn this new leaf in my life, and I feel so fortunate and blessed to be among you. I look forward to the next year of beautiful beginnings with all of you!

Runway Model to Inca Warrior Princess

Let me tell you, runway skills come in real handy in life or death situations. I'm serious! You try walking along narrow light beams across spike-filled caverns, and you'll be awfully glad that you spent all those hours practicing on tightrope-thin runway trainers. Earlier this month, I put everything I've got to the test while on the quest for the Lost Treasure of the Inca Warrior. This adventure is the most recent interactive game produced by MadPea, and it is the most flawlessly executed, gorgeously designed, challenging and high quality gaming experience I have had in Second Life to date. I honestly felt like I was in a movie on some epic and perilous journey through mystical lands in search of bountiful treasure.

And what, besides a cache of gold, was I searching for? The puzzle solving, hunt-style game's sponsors include Boudoir and Kastle Rock Couture among many others, and they give very generous prizes to those who successfully complete the mission. Well worth it for a model, in my opinion, and the high quality is what initially enticed me to play. Here I am dressed as an Inca warrior princess wearing several of the gifts, and I'm reclining on a golden throne in a luscious sound garden that are also among the amazing prizes. I certainly deserved this peaceful rest after such an incredible journey!

Kastle Rock Couture designed Incan and Mayan outfits for the men and women, and I'm loving these rich gold and earth-toned silks. The glorious feathery headdress by Boudoir is modifiable, so I color edited it to match the silks. It was originally a striking light gold and royal blue, which I look forward to wearing with another ensemble. I paired this with another headpiece by Frippery, which is finely crafted and glistens in the light. To finish the outfit, I'm wearing Vanity hair and the Gaeline Creations line of bare feet and coordinating sandals. I was pleasantly surprised by their quality and range of options, which includes applying tattoos in any color on the feet and a variety of nail art and effects. I took advantage of this feature so I could closely match the intricate henna body tattoo prize that emblazes my skin with golden luster.

My style:

Silks: Maya Silk Gown in Dragon by Kastle Rock Couture *
Feather Headdress: Inca male/female headpiece by Boudoir *
Gold Headdress: Child of the Sun Headdress by Frippery *

Nails: Glitter Stripe Manicure Prim Nails by Sexy Mamas
Feet: Flat Bare Feet by Gaeline Creations
Sandals: Chloe Sandals in Shiny Metal by Gaeline Creations
Hair: Alice in Nova Black by Vanity Hair
Lipstick: Tia Maria Lip Gel by M.O.C.K
Eyelashes: BlackDarling by Redgrave

Scenery:

Environment: Inca Sound Garden by Patron *
Throne & Gold: Kings Ransom Throne Set by Roawenwood*

* Denotes Lost Treasure of the Inca Warrior prizes. Only a few have been photographed!

The sims that you travel through on this quest are also incredibly beautiful and perfect places to snap pictures of your next outfit. I enjoyed exploring these sims so much and developing my candid-style photography skills (AO only, with occasional object pose), that it really became more about the quest than the finish. You can follow my journey in this slideshow. I'm wearing an outfit that I have previously blogged, but I added a great explorer's hat by Loki (another one of the game's sponsors, and more explorer's gear is included in their prize) to complete the experience. I actually got some compliments on this outfit during the course of the hunt!

If you dare, go on the quest yourself and claim your prizes. But hurry, it only runs through May 31st! Your journey starts here. Happy hunting!

Modeling a Gift from La Sirena Boutique

While I was out on the beach modeling the bikini from my last post, a new designer approached me and offered one of her swimsuits for free. To repay the favor, I tried it on and snapped this picture, sending it back to the designer as a thank you card.

La Sirena is an Italian boutique specializing in swimwear and lingerie. The white bikini set that I am wearing features a plunging top with triangle-shaped cups and V-shaped panty that have a wide band embroidered in gold with the designer's logo. This Regalo swimwear set and more clothing designs from La Sirena are available on the marketplace here: La Sirena Boutique. Thanks again!

Strutting Your Stuff: Bikini Thong Theme

It's time to show off more of what I've been learning in my advanced modeling pageant class!

This past week I was given styling requirements for the swimwear portion of a pageant. The explicit instructions were to wear a thong bikini with appropriate styling and to walk the runway, stopping at six marked locations and finishing with a bow and kiss to the audience.

Sounds simple? Well, first I had to find the perfect itty-bitty bikini that complements my figure. (I struck gold with this one!) Then I had to accessorize with jewelry, shoes and hairstyle that are appropriate for wearing to the beach. However minimal, it's the little details that make a barely there bikini look polished.

Last but definitely not least, I had to put together a set of eighteen poses with fluid animations for each stop on the runway. The ultimate perfection: natural, carefree looks and turns that show all this off. No one would ever guess how much work goes into making all this happen in SL!

So all that finally accomplished, I teleported to CWS's red pageant venue and proudly practiced strutting down the runway. With a little imagination, I could picture showing off these skills to an audience. I give you a little turn, right here in this blog!

We were also asked to submit a description of our styling, which would be read by an announcer as we walked down the runway. While preparing my note card, I found that you can actually say quite a lot about so little clothing. Here is my pageant description:

Laura Reverie is wearing a flirty floral bikini created by Rosenwolf Designs that is just perfect for this summer. It has a fun print in gorgeous violet, purple and pink tones that are a splash of color on her skin. She loves to walk on the beach in this tiny bikini top and even smaller thong bottom, with strings that tie into little bows. Laura has pulled her hair into a loose up-do with long windswept bangs and cute curls that sway in the breeze. A white headband holds it all in place, with a violet hibiscus flower as an accent for her face. On her wrist, she wears a matching floral bracelet with purple beads and feathers. Her earrings, second bracelet and thin belly chain jewelry are all in coordinating shades of small beads. To complete the look, she wears stylish violet heels with white straps that echo her hairband. Laura feels pretty and ready for fun in the sun wearing this bright, flirty look!

My Style:

Bikini: Micro String Bikini in Mauve Floral by Rosenwolf Design
Heels: Soleil in White/Violet by N-core
Earrings & Bracelet: Emily Set by Burroughs
Floral Bracelet: Ibiza Bracelet by Sweet Lies
Belly Chain: Bikini Beads in Tropical Punch by EarthStones
Hair & Headband: Ruri in Brown Diamond by D!va
Flower in Hair: Hibiscus Hairpin by VioMagic
Nails: Glitter Manicure Prim Nails by Sexy Mamas
Lipstick: Strawberry Lip Creme by M.O.C.K
Eyelashes: BlackDarling by Redgrave

Looks good! Feeling satisfied that I completed the task well, I decided to take this bikini to the beach for a relaxing end to the day.

CWS Top Model Pageant Performance

On Sunday I both attended and performed in Classic W/ Style's Top Model Pageant, which was truly amazing! The five models who competed in this three-part event have such talent, poise and beauty. The pageant had a futuristic theme, which lent itself to some very interesting and creative outfits. Each model's talent portion of the competition was also truly spectacular with inventive dances, elaborate futuristic sets and special effects.

There were some really big prizes for the contestants, totaling 200,000 Lindens!! Here they are in the order that they placed, wearing their formal outfits. The theme for this final category of the pageant was creative split gowns for women and formal tailcoats for men.

4th Runner Up: Agee Canto
Prize Amount: 5,000 Lindens

Agee was very creative in styling her own split gown outfit for this competition. She created the look using pieces that came from many designers, including Ydea. The total ensemble has a wild fantasy look to it, aligning with the event's theme. The interplay of textures, patterns, and colors of black, white and pinks keep the eye busy looking at this creative outfit. There is the silky smooth texture of the pink fabric, the black frilled lace on the side of the dress's skirt, the black and white patterned bodice with matching gloves, and the soft feathered headdress worn atop a curled high hair do. Agee could be off to the ball in this wonderful gown, ready to perform and have a good time.

3rd Runner Up: LizzyLola Resident
Prize Amount: 10,000 Lindens

As Lizzy was searching the grid for the perfect gown with a slit, she came upon this beautiful pink and white orchid dress from Utopia. The gown has a strapless halter top with a high side split that shows off her long legs. There is a beautiful gold embellishment that runs along the edge of the dress's fabric. Attached to the back of the gown is a lovely peacock -like floral design made of silk with orchids printed on it, which gives the dress a delicate and airy appearance. Lizzy has accessorized with gold jewelry from Lazuri that goes along with the theme of her gown. The headpiece that she wears is also from Utopia and has three beautiful orchids on it. Lizzy has completed this look with a pair a nude stilettos from N-core.

2nd Runner Up: Liberty Lighthouse
Prize Amount: 25,000 Lindens

Liberty fell in love with this Tribal Glam white gown from Utopia. The enchanting bodice draws the feminine shape with perfect lines that run down both sides of her ribcage. Origami folds create the elaborate skirt, with feathers and intricate details. An open slit in the front reveals her legs, moving in a soft and natural way that makes it charming and classy. Liberty decided to accessorize this dress with an exotic feathered tribal head piece, a cascade of shoulder feathers, a silver tribal skull collar from Utopia, silver claw earrings from ZC, and open-toed silver stiletto heels with black gems from N-core. She is wearing Fantasy Makeup from Madrid Solo and an amazing silver and black leopard print Legend eyeshadow.

1st Runner Up: Zigrich Zsigmond
Prize Amount: 50,000 Lindens

Zigrich is wearing a new trend for men’s semi-formal wear in the 1920s: the tuxedo jacket, also called a dinner jacket, rather than the traditional tails. The tuxedo jacket of the ‘20s was still fairly long, falling below the hips. Thin notched or peaked lapels were the most fashionable, but got wider as the decade progressed. They were often cuffed at the wrists, sometimes with contrasting material such as satin or faille. Most were single-breasted, but a double-breasted version became popular in the late ‘20s that was considered very un- couth by the upper and older classes. Two flap pockets were often found on the front, and a slit breast pocket was a newer addition. Men’s fashions were inspired by WWI army jackets and tuxedos were worn buttoned up high, military-style.

WINNER: Sidney Abbot
Prize Amount: 100,000 Lindens

She was also awarded Ms Photogenic, winning 5,000 Lindens and Best Creative Outfit, winning an additional 5,000 Lindens.

Sidney wanted to wear a gown with a different look and a slit in the front of the dress to show off her legs. This gown is from Utopia and was exactly what she wanted because of its elaborate shoulder piece and futuristic appeal. The gown is made of beautiful black lace and has a front slit. The skirt is flowing and has little white pearls for accents. The shoulder piece is a definite fashion statement, floating above and moving fluently with the gown. Black lace gloves are also a part of this ensemble. Sidney wears a lovely headpiece that matches the shoulder piece, and she has decided to wear simple pearl earrings and a ring to complement her gown. She chose a funky updo for her hair and her makeup is a soft silver shadow with black eyeliner to show off her blue eyes. Sexy black sandals complete the ensemble. Sidney was thrilled with the finished look and she feels like she could be floating in the sky like a shining star.

Gown- Fairway Noir by Utopia
Hair- Stradivarius by Vanity Hair
Heels- Eternity by N-Core
Pearl Earrings & Ring- Gold Sassy White Pearl Set by Alienbear Design
Makeup- Brillance Eye Makeup by Glamorize

Congratulations to everyone who competed in the top model pageant! I must say that I was incredibly impressed with all of the contestants. The amount of time and effort that goes into preparing for these pageants is immense, and each one of them shined in the spotlight on the runway.

In addition to the five models who competed in the pageant's three categories, there was also a large group performance towards the end of the show that Dean Janet Brink had invited me to perform in. She choreographed a lovely Arabian dance set to music and created an impressive backdrop set with lush palm trees and a pink canopy for the runway. Although I was too busy dancing to take a picture of the actual performance, I did snap this photo while we were waiting backstage. Doesn't it look so much like a Degas painting of dancers before a recital or during a rehearsal? We look so pretty. Other models who performed in the Arabian dance include Laci Rossini-Washborne, Summitt Beaumont, Becky Kénaan, Zykeria Artis, and Jeannie Dreamer.

Here's another photo of me dancing in the costume. The dress and veil were required pieces, but I styled the rest. This is a lovely dress in beautiful sunny yellow and glowing white that flows around the body so elegantly while you dance. It really makes me feel like an Arabian princess!

My Style:

Dress: Beauty in White by Ramp
Veil: White Veil by Amelia's
Necklace: Shahrazad Necklace by Ashira's Aerie Creative Jewelry

I really enjoyed being part of the performance and felt like it was one baby step towards actually being in a pageant some day. I definitely learn a lot each time I attend a fashion show or pageant produced by Classic W/ Style. They are also really impressive and enjoyable to watch. If you haven't seen one yet, make sure you grab a CWS show schedule and come out to join us!

Saturday was my first fashion show with Classic W/ Style, marking the next step in my modeling career. The audience was packed and it was quite an experience - I was so excited! The show featured fashions by Sage, ranging from swimwear to formal gowns. I was honored to showcase the work of Ms. Sage Pexie, who has designed a really lovely line of clothing. Here are some rehearsal photos that I snapped to show you all of the outfits. We were putting them on in rapid speed as we performed the formation on the Dome runway!

This dress was a real crowd pleaser, judging from all the applause. I felt glamorous wearing it, and the high slit that exposes the right leg is very sexy!
